Introduction to Jimena de la Frontera |
Located at an altitude of 230m on the San Cristóbal Mountain, at the entrance to the Los Gazules Mountain Range. It borders on Castellar de la Frontera, Alcalá de los Gazules, and the province of Málaga. It is a modern prototype for reclaimed frontier towns, composed of an urban-rural complex with the Castle on the hill and a town full of uniform white houses descending the slope. Location: Interior "Los Alcornocales" Natural Park, and a surface area of 347 square kilometres. It can be accessed using Regional Route 3331, and part of the N-340 at the Taraguilla crossroads, or if coming from Málaga it can be reached through San Martín del Tesorillo.
Population of 9200 inhabitants. Its climate is mild, with average temperature of 18º C, and low relative air humidity. It enjoys more than 300 days of sun annually.
